After a Long break...

Hi Everyone! I know, I know... I have been away from blogging for like 2 years + . While I was relatively active on A Touch Of Ally’s Facebook page, somehow the convenience of FB and Instagram were too alluring for me. Please accept my utmost apologies.

I supposed the Virgo in me kept postponing the blog posts as I used to spend a lot of time to make sure photos were chosen, watermarked and nicely aligned (Ok, fine, my past posts were far from professional, but, I sure did make sure the amateur me did my best! ;)).

Well, after being away so long, I’d like to think that I’ve matured a bit more and somehow pay less attention to details than when I was younger. I guess content is more important than kept postponing my updates. So, what the heck, I would be more impromptu from now on.

I am currently in love with bright, red lipstick. Now, they say give a girl the right lipstick and she can rule the world. I concur with this totally, especially on a bad day. I feel more invincible somehow. It gives me power to face the challenges. Try it!

So, with this, I hope this shall revive a sleeping blog. Thank you for coming back over and over again for the recipes, I am so grateful. I hope they were helpful and brightened up your day too.

With love,

The "Best" Snow Skin Mooncake

This year is my second year making mooncakes. I truly didn't regret taking lessons last year, as this year the mooncakes turned out really well and it was much easier to make the second time round.

I am so happy that, I, finally, managed to conduct my first mooncake workshop this year. I am even more glad that my "students" excelled with flying colors. Ahhh... The joy of seeing them successfully make their gorgeous and tasty mooncakes were beyond words. Truly satisfying.

One-Pot Chicken in Milk

This is inspired by a very famous recipe by the genius, Jamie Oliver. Some said this is probably the best chicken recipe.

Simple ingredients and a little mismatched you may think. But it all works out well. Jamie was one of the earliest influence on me wanting to try cooking. So, when I saw that this recipe was from Jamie Oliver, I believed unconditionally it will be delicious.

Very Fudgy Batik Cake

I first saw this Batik Cake from FB where a talented friend, Joo Ann, made these for a birthday party. I have never tasted it, but the look of the cake with pieces of brownish thing inside of chocolate cake intrigued me.

Only very recently, when a few baker friends who made and posted these chocolate treats on FB that I found out that it was a no-bake cake. Wow! I love anything that is super easy and come on, with chocolates… How can it go wrong?

Wolfberry Chicken Drumsticks

Made these super easy and flavorful dish after seeing 2 of my friends posted this on FB. Looks like comfort food to me and instantly I knew I'd make this with my pressure cooker.

I made some minor adjustments to the recipe and it turned out lovely!

Ally’s Healthier Version: Japanese Sweet Potato Bread

Hey people! It’s official… And, NO, I am NOT pregnant (I get this all the time, whenever I say I have something to announce or say…). As I was saying, from now it’s just me, the Mr., and my 2 monkeys from now on.

My helper of 2 years decided not to board the plane after her 30 days home leave. The past few month had been quite a chaotic one for me. Well, Mr. Cool as Cucumber was chilled throughout, and said that everything happens for the better. Amen!
